[AETHERSTUCK] Alien hostages (9 and 282)

Description

In an alternate version of Earth, a mysterious being takes over at some point in the near future and rules with absolute despotism fueled by SCIENCE!!! Rumors abound about this hidden tyrant, often called "the Corrupted Prospitian" or "Israphel" for his pale shell and blood-red eyes; some even go so far as to say that before he turned Earth into the technocratic hell where the Knight of Void and Bard of Doom grew up, the Corrupted Prospitian was already conquering an alien civilization with his machines.

First encountered by the Mage of Breath via a hologram transceiver in the present day ("the Era of Freedom") and long sought out by the Resistance, these creatures have no official name due to an insistence of identifying themselves with numbers; however, the species has several codenames given to them by the heads of the Resistance: the Mage (a newcomer to the Resistance) calls them "Babylonians", the Bard "Chaos Hawks", and the Knight "Aarakocra".

It is rumored that after conquering the nameless civilization, the Corrupted Prospitian used them as slave labor all through the enslavement of Earth and until the fall of Prospit and Derse; the unlucky ones became the subjects of countless SCIENCE!!! experiments, were roboticized and brainwashed as soldiers, or simply used as biofuel for the countless machines under the tyrant's command. It isn't clear how many remain at the point of the Knight and Bard's entry to their Sburb session, but it is rumored that the Corrupted Prospitian keeps the first four of these aliens that he captured in cyro-sleep (presumably as DNA donors for cloning), locked somewhere in the bowels of his fortress on Derse...

POST-SESSION ADDENDUM:
Upon closer inspection, the aliens are not all bird-like as the Alpha humans had originally assumed; based on the variety amongst the four hostages, it can be presumed that these lifeforms were as varied biologically as the Mobians in the Material Plane within the universe we've created. Their white veil-like masks do make classification difficult at first glance, but closely inspecting an individual "Babylonian" can provide the nearest Mobian equivalent...

ALIEN HOSTAGES 1 AND 2

9:
Resistance codename: "Saddam"
Gender: Male
Nearest Mobian equivalent: Husky
Associated color: White
Personality: Very egotistical (relating to his rank), difficult to please, looks down on lower ranked members of his species as well as other lifeforms, highest likelihood of becoming an enemy upon release.

282:
Resistance codename: "Ishmael"
Gender: Male
Nearest Mobian equivalent: Black bear
Associated color: Red
Personality: Very temperamental, impatient, demanding, frequently argued with 9 prior to capture, will most likely be extremely difficult to manage during extraction.

ARTIST'S NOTES:
  • These aliens originate from :iconvocaloidcyborg:'s fan series, Spoilerstuck < mspfanventures.com/?s=9000&… >, existing as observers to the sessions and having 9 as the series' main antagonist. After being introduced to the four aliens in an RP on Google+ < plus.google.com/11138043704703…, I fell in love with the quirky creatures and got to work implenting them into Aetherstuck. Not only did rescuing the aliens from my Israphel ripoff give the human Dancestors an excellent side-quest to gain more levels in Sburb, but it also provided something to seal Markus's deal with the Noble Circle of Horrorterrors to get him his Warlock magic.
  • The Resistance's names for the alien species comes from the fact that the overall design of the aliens kinda looks bird-like to me, just without any wings:
    • "Babylonians" comes from the ancestors of the Babylon Rogues from the Sonic Riders games and the Sonic the Hedgehog comic series published by Archie Comics: the Babylonians were bird-like aliens who might have also been the genies in Mobian legends, possessing advanced transportation technology like gravitational propulsion and the first instances of Extreme Gear (which resembled flying carpets).
    • "Chaos Hawks" not only refers to the bird-like appearance, but also compares the two "spikes" coming from the back of their heads to those seen on Chaos 0, the Guardian of the Chao and the Serpent of Destruction from the Sonic franchise.
    • "Aarakocra" is a name borrowed from Dungeons & Dragons and is the name of a race of humanoid birds native to the Elemental Plane of Air; the key difference between the Aarakocra in D&D and these aliens is that the aliens don't have wings...
  • The individual codenames for each alien were invented by Paige Bauman's Dancestor, the Mage of Breath, and come from sources relating to the whole "Babylonian" shtick:
    • 9 is nicknamed "Saddam" by the Mage after Saddam Hussein, the infamous dictator of Iraq (the modern-day location of the ancient Babylonian Empire); not only is 9 in a position of power, but his attitude towards both his subordinates and other lifeforms mirrors Hussein's persecution of the Kurds and his invasion of Kuwait.
    • 282 is nicknamed "Ishmael" by the Mage after the biblical figure Ishmael, son of Abraham and father of the Arab races; Ishmael is described in Genesis 16:12 as "a wild ass of a man" whose "hand [was] against everyone and everyone's hand against him" and was prophesied to "live in hostility toward [or "live to the east of"] all his brothers."
  • I wasn't really sure how to draw the alien's hands; they're drawn normally in the original sketches, but it was stated in the RP that they don't have thumbs. So I used two different hand designs for these two; Dani will have to clarify which of the two is correct:
    • 9 was drawn with his fingers arranged in a "claw" fashion, imitating those crane games you see in game rooms everywhere; this set-up would work best for grasping things without needing a separate thumb, but it's the hardest to draw properly. [CORRECT STYLE]
    • 282 was drawn with his fingers in a more "flat" arrangement, looking like a regular hand minus the thumb; it's the easiest to draw, but grasping things like this would be a bit more difficult. [INCORRECT STYLE]
